This Privacy Policy explains how Save on Energy Bills collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use our website at https://saveonenergybills.co.uk.
Who we are
Save on Energy Bills is operated by Trailhead Digital Services (“we”, “us”, “our”), which is the data controller responsible for your personal information.
If you have any questions about this policy or the data we hold, you can contact us at [privacy@saveonenergybills.co.uk].
What we collect, and why
We only collect personal data where we have a clear reason to. The main ways this happens are set out below.
Newsletter
If you sign up to our newsletter, we collect your email address so we can send you the updates you have asked for. We use Beehiiv to manage and send our newsletter, and your email address is stored on their platform for this purpose.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us. Lawful basis: consent.
Enquiries
If you contact us, for example through our contact page or by email, we collect the information you choose to provide so that we can respond to you. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in dealing with your enquiry.
Affiliate and referral links
Some links on our site are affiliate or referral links. If you click one, you are taken to the supplier’s or partner’s own website. That third party may then set cookies or record that you reached them through us, so that any sign-up or purchase can be recognised. This happens on their website, under their own privacy and cookie policies, not on ours. You can read more in our Affiliate Disclosure.
Our energy-saving plan tool
Our energy-saving plan tool runs entirely in your web browser. The answers you provide are used to generate your plan on your own device. They are not sent to us, stored by us, or shared with anyone else.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website sets only strictly necessary cookies, which are needed for the site to work and do not require your consent. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this website.
If you visit a third-party website through one of our affiliate or referral links, or interact with any embedded content, that third party may set its own cookies. This is governed by their privacy and cookie policies, not ours.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the website, and only as far as needed. These include:
- Beehiiv (newsletter delivery)
- our website hosting provider
- the suppliers and partners you choose to visit through our affiliate or referral links, who handle your data under their own privacy policies
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK’s adequacy arrangements or standard contractual protections, to keep it protected.
How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it:
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove your details.
- Enquiries: for a reasonable period after we have dealt with your query.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your data
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
- request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [privacy@saveonenergybills.co.uk]. We will respond within the time limits set by law.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to put things right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at https://ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or the law. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
